Slow Money SLO Celebrates One Year with Free Public Event
“Gather in the Grove” with National Slow Money Founding Member Marco Vangelisti
San Luis Obispo, CA, July 30, 2013 – Based on the book “Slow Money, invest as if food, farms, and fertility mattered”, a local group celebrates one year of helping small food entrepreneurs to build and grow their businesses. “Gather in the Grove” is hosted by Slow Money SLO to celebrate their support of seven local, small food businesses with total investment of $250,000 over the past year.
Slow Money SLO is pleased to have Marco Vangelisti speak at the August 12th event. Marco is a Founding Member of Slow Money, creator and advisor to SOIL Trust and a sought after speaker on banking, local investing and improving food systems through Slow Money principles.
Slow Money is about investing in places close to home, patiently, over time, with the goal of building healthy, local food ecosystems. Slow Money SLO connects small food and farm entrepreneurs with investors to facilitate peer to peer lending across SLO County. All financial arrangements are determined privately between the investor and entrepreneur. To learn more and sample food from Slow Money SLO entrepreneurs, attend this free gathering on August 12, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the SLO Grange Grove, 2880 Broad St, San Luis Obispo.
The Slow Money network includes more than 25 local groups dedicated to local investing in small food and farm enterprises. Through Slow Money national gatherings, regional events and local group efforts, more than $30 million has been invested in over 220 small food enterprises since 2010.
In anticipation of his trip to SLO on August 12, Marco Vangelisti had this to say. “I am pleased to visit San Luis Obispo and meet the group members and food entrepreneurs and congratulate them on their success! With the momentum of this group, their second year should be fabulous. I hope to shed further light on the Slow Money movement and its importance to growing local economies and quality food businesses.”
Jeff Wade, Slow Money SLO founder and local leader said, “It has been great to see the enthusiasm by local investors and the energetic entrepreneurs who have come forward to collectively achieve our success. We are thrilled to have Marco’s experience and insight to kick off our second year, grow awareness of Slow Money SLO and ultimately support many more local food and farm businesses in SLO County as we grow.”
Investors, food entrepreneurs and anyone who wants to know more about Slow Money should attend the event to hear Marco Vangelisti and try food samples from the businesses that have benefited over the past year. There is no charge for the event or to join the local Slow Money SLO group. See more details at www.SlowMoneySLO.org.
